Okay, when I say "dumb" I don't mean dim-witted or stupid. I'm simply saying that, as far as gardening goes (or keeping anything green, well, green), I have no idea what I'm doing. The dumb gardener's guide to patio gardening is my way of simplifying gardening to a small, manageable space that's easy for anyone to keep. Probably. Growing up in the high, arid country of Colorado, it was nearly impossible to grow anything beyond sagebrush. During the summer, we would road trip to my parents' home ... VIEW POST

Get them reading with the Tower of Books Challenge
Parents and kids everywhere are feeling the 'end of the year slump' as summer approaches and dreams of closing up the books mix with summer plans that often don't involve a lot of reading. We began feeling that familiar slump after taking a mid-year break of our own (beauty of homeschooling year-round) that left me looking for new ideas to inspire more independent reading in our house. Thanks to Teachers Pay Teachers, I found a great way to get them reading with the tower of books ... VIEW POST
Keep it stylish and simple with Comfort Works slipcovers
I walked into the living room the other day and found the girls watching Frozen 2, munching on Doritos and sipping chocolate milk. That's the life, am I right? You bet it is (if you're the two and five year old). However, if you're *me* you feel a ping of dread watching countless orange, powdery crumbs raining into every crevice, nook, and cranny of that deep seat sofa (is it time for wine, yet?) with dribbles of chocolate milk spattering every whichaway. If there is one thing I know, it's mess. ... VIEW POST
Raise them to love the unloved things
...raise children who love the unloved things...I've always had a knack for seeing the beauty in things that might otherwise seem repulsive -- cupping roving spiderlings in my hands to escape quick-footed spider-squashers is what I do (everyone keeps a tarantula under their bed in college, right?). I don't think I've ever intentionally trampled a spider, come to think of it. Seems ridiculous, I suppose, but I feel for the unloved things. Creepy crawlies and critters that slither might be ... Create A Simple Easter Centerpiece in Minutes
I'm not one to create lavish table displays. I love looking at them (don't get me wrong) and I am in awe of the talent of my many friends who craft gorgeous tables for every season and occasion. But for me, a simple centerpiece does the trick and we're going to dive into how to create a simple Easter centerpiece in minutes (because we all need quick and easy sometimes). Create A Simple Easter Centerpiece in Minutes: Texture When I plan a centerpiece, texture is high on my list of priorities. ... VIEW POST
How to Create a Gallery Wall with Art to Frames
Current mood: watching Haunted History and noshing on a bag of crunchy Cheetos. That about sums up a good Monday evening, don't you think? We made the mistake of buying a box of assorted chips from Costco and I've been on a Cheeto binge for daaaaaaays (I've even had cheesy dreams, guys). Anyway, my love of ghost stories and cheesy snacks has little to do with this post, so, we move on (let me just go grab a refill on the Cheetos, though.....). I've recently pieced together a moody ... VIEW POST
